The Lagos State Development and Property Company (LSDPC) has urged residents of Masha Roundabout, Adelabu Road and other inner streets in Surulere, Lagos, whose buildings fell within the land area measuring 315.9 acres the Onikate of Ikate,  Oba  Lateef Atanda Adams, is  laying claim, to remain calm.

The agency said it’s on top of the matter.

This was conveyed through one of the staff, who identified herself simply as “Yewande”, when she took our correspondent to the company’s legal department to get its reaction on the matter.

“The management said it’s aware and is on top of matter. They should not panic,” she said.

Nigerian Tribune had reported that the panic among most landlords and residents was fuelled by the court judgement alleged to have been obtained by Oba Lateef Atanda Adams, on the ownership of the entire land, measuring 315.9 acres in the enclave.

Already, no fewer than 300 buildings fell within the land area have been marked with the inscription “IKD/288/68 possession taken today 30/3/2923 by court,”

Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune in a telephone chats, Oba Lateef Atanda Adams, wants owners of the affected property to come with whatever documents they have to facilitate settlement.

He said:” They should come. Let’s sit down and settle this thing before it gets out of hands.

“They should come to regularise with us. They cannot win in court. They should come or else I will demolish everything. We need their cooperation.”

“Let government calls me so that we can have a roundtable talks,” Oba Adams said.

He alleged that the property owners did not recognize or bought  the land directly  from the family, hence  they must present their receipts or documents or enter new agreement with the family.

Oba Adams said he is relying on the  judgement delivered by Hon. Justice OlusanBada in Suit No 18/118/68 of the Lagos State High court on the 10th November, 1975 between KasaliIdewu and ORS V Ayisatu Yaya ans ORS declaring land measuring 315.9 acres as captured by survey plan No: AGW/263 to the defendants/judgment creditors and affirmed by the ruling delivered by Hon. Justice  M.A. Lawal  sitting at the Ikeja Judicial Division of the High Court of Lagos State on the 9th Day of December, 2022.
