Taraba state Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has berated the people’s Democratic Party PDP in the state over comments that the APC has no governorship candidate in the March 18th governorship poll.
Mr Aaron Artimas, the party-state publicity secretary while reacting to the PDP’s press briefing yesterday in Abuja, called on Tarabans wishing to vote for senator Emmanuel Bwacha as governor to remain focused and disregard the statement, as PDP has only had upgraded her desperation to national level.
According to APC, the PDP after discovering that Tarabans are not ready to vote for any other candidate rather than senator Emmanuel Bwacha as governor of the state, they have resorted to cheap blackmail to confuse and convince the unenlightened voters willing to cast their votes for APC to believe that Bwacha who is the rightful choice of Taraba is not on the ballot.
“The party has just upgraded her desperation to the national level as its National Publicity Secretary has just issued a statement promoting the false narrative whilst unnecessarily raising the hopes of its members.
“There’s no doubt that the Peoples Democratic Party in Taraba State is in a dire and miserable situation. With the election just two days away, the PDP still has not found tangible and convincing reasons to convince the people to vote for them instead, the party has continued to dissipate energy on the fruitless, illusionary, and boring narrative that APC has no candidate.
“Those who have followed PDP’s antics for many years may recall that this has always been the party’s plan for getting into power through other means. In 2015, PDP did not conduct Primaries in the state; instead, the party gathered a motley group of chosen loyalists, locked out lawfully elected delegates and conducted the Primaries in Abuja for fear of defeat at home. In a bizarre ruling against then APC candidate, Late Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, the Court of Appeal claimed that it was the internal affairs of PDP. But, everyone knew that it was in clear violation of the Electoral Act.
“Again, in 2019, the PDP took Sani Danladi, then APC governorship candidate to court, saying that he falsified his age. In its usual underhand tactics, the PDP succeeded in disqualifying the APC candidate at the Supreme Court, paving the way for another dubious victory. The Party facing a heavy defeat in the governorship race has resorted to its criminal and ungodly tactics of getting elected by dubious means.
“It is very important to note that the party’s current Gubernatorial Candidate Lt Col Agbu Kefas was not validly nominated. He neither bought the party’s forms nor went through the screening process to emerge as a candidate. He emerged as a candidate after the period for the purchase of forms and screening had lapsed. He was still serving as party chairman.
“Also, his emergence remains one of the greatest scandals of the Judiciary as the Supreme Court for lack of any tangible reason to give him the ticket declared that “it was the internal matter of the party. Again? This exposes Kefas as a none candidate, and therefore, a vote for Agbu Kefas is a waste.
“As a party, we’ll challenge his nomination in court, should he emerge by rigging. But even as it stands, he has no chance of election despite this infantile and lazy claim against the APC Gubernatorial Candidate.
“A party as old as PDP should be flaunting its achievements in the state and not trying to capitalise on default, if any, by other parties to be elected. This is a significant failure for PDP, which has serially hoodwinked, deceived, and cheated the masses over the years. Getting the National Executive Committee of the Party involved in this macabre dance is the worst infamy and irascible desperation.
“The PDP should not go this low to lie to the people after failing them this much. Senator Emmanuel Bwacha remains the duly nominated candidate of APC in Taraba State. We call on all Tarabans to disregard the PDP statement and be focused to cast their votes for senator Emmanuel Bwacha to transform Taraba state” Aaron expressed.
