A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Wumi Ogunlola has revealed that the bold and strategic economic policies of President Bola Tinubu would soon push the country into greatness.
Ogunlola who stressed that the country was in the intensive care unit gasping for breath for survival before the president came into office, added that the current socio-economic problems were inherited by his administration.
The former lawmaker who represented Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II while speaking with newsmen on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, said the economic hardship facing Nigerians was caused by the mistakes of the past administrations, saying that Tinubu was only rectifying the missteps of the past through implementation of reforms and strategic innovations.
She said the president meant well for the country and should be given more time to implement his renewed hope agenda which she said would catapult Nigeria to greatness at fullness of time.
Ogunlola said it was impossible for the President Tinubu-led administration to solve the preponderance of challenges plaguing the country overnight, assuring Nigerians that things would soon change for better.
According to her, ” It’s a pity that we find ourselves where we are, we don’t always think about the foundations of a thing, we only talk about the way we are building on it.
“All these things we are experiencing started from somewhere but we don’t always acquaint our mind to the fact that some people started this thing and we are the one bearing the brunt of it.
“It is because there are some people who have made some mistakes in the past but I have listen to the President say, by the time he would finish his four years, if he has not done it well, they should vote against him.
“It is because he’s so sure of what he is doing and he knows the aftermath of what will come out of what he is doing.Nigerians should be patient, things will come out better.”
Speaking on governance in Ekiti state,the newly appointed Federal Commissioner for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his sterling performance in the last two years.
She said the governor has lived up to the expectations of the people, adding the giant strides recorded by the incumbent administration across all the sectors of governance have brought a new lease of life to the state.
She added that his unprecedented score-card has made him stand tall among his peers with what he had achieved in the last two years, the governor had proven his critics wrong and stung conscience of the opposition parties.
Ogunlola stated that the people of Ekiti took the right decision to have voted for Governor Oyebanji, pointing out that they were bountifully reaping the benefits of the choice they made during the 2022 governorship election.
“Mr Governor has exceedingly done well for Ekiti people. He’s touching everywhere, this is a governor that goes to visit people. He’s unprecedented, even ex-governor Fayose that was street wise did not take it to that extent but like Fayose said, Oyebanji has come, he saw the mistakes that all of them did and he’s correcting it.
“He has six strategic points agenda, and you found out that this man has touched everything. Give it to him in the areas of governance. This man has been able to make people proud.
“He was in Ijero-Ekiti my hometown days ago to commission a project. It was around March that the Obas led some of the leadership of the Ijero Town to meet with him. I was there, to meet with him and complain about the electricity we have in Ijero and he came to commission it few days ago. Ijero now has light, it’s for us to tap into it.
“He’s a governor that listens to people, he listens to what they want, he doesn’t stop at that. When he listens, he tries to address it. This man has been able to make people proud,” she added.
