The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has said the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president in 2023 will satisfy yearnings of the Yoruba race.

Oluwo addressed Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in his palace when the governor consulted him before going for a campaign in Iwo. Akanbi promised to mobilise 30 monarchs and 48 ruling houses to ensure victory for Tinubu and Oyetola.

He said: “The President we have been yearning for is coming to us soon in the progressives, so also the governor of our choice. So, we remain resolute to this cause. I appeal to other traditional rulers in Iwo Federal Constituency to remain resolute and support the progressive government. It is time to speak with our votes.

“Let’s work in unison to retain Oyetola and ensure the victory of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in next year’s elections. Results of the last governorship election was not too good, but I can assure you it will be much better this time, particularly from Iwo land.

“We have 30 kings with 48 ruling houses with numerous chiefs. We can’t find it difficult to speak to them. I assure you that by the grace of God who enthroned us, you will emerge.”

The Olu of Ile-Ogbo, Oba Abeeb Agbajelola; and Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Makama, reassured their commitments to ensure the return of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for a second term.

Oyetola, while addressing the crowd at the campaign ground, urged them to come out in large number on July 16 and vote for him.

He urged those who have not collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so as it remains the only power to vote for continuity and consolidation of good governance.

The governor also boasted that with the support of the electorate, the APC will remain undefeated in the July 16 polls.

He addressed the people at the Ejigbo palace square, saying he is not bothered about his opponents, and urged party members and residents not to waiver in their support for his administration.

“With the regular support from Ejigbo residents, our party will remain unbeaten in the July 16 governorship election. I am not bothered about those I am competing with, I put my trust in God and the people of the state who would not want us to stop the good works.

“I am promising you that with me as governor, good governance will not stop for the next four years.”
