UK-based Nigerian gospel singer, Tosin Adisa, is making big moves with his music career as he continues to captivate audiences with his unique sound and creativity.
Known for his soulful voice and inspirational lyrics, Tosin is carving out a space for himself in the gospel music scene both in the UK and internationally.
In his latest single, Funmilayo, set to be released next week, Tosin collaborates with renowned Nigerian artiste Tunde Stainless, adding a fresh touch to the track. The single promises to be a dynamic blend of gospel melodies and modern sound, showcasing Tosin’s ability to fuse traditional gospel elements with contemporary influences.
Speaking about his journey, Tosin credits a number of artists and spiritual leaders for shaping his career. “Growing up, I was deeply influenced by gospel giants like Tope Alabi, Esther Igbekele, and Ebenezer Obey,” he says.
“Their music resonated with me on a spiritual level, and I learned so much from their ability to mix profound lyrics with captivating melodies.” Tosin adds that he was also inspired by the musical direction of artists such as Sammy Pee, Sammy B, and Lekan Abiola (Abija). “I remember attending church services and hearing these incredible voices that brought so much energy to the atmosphere.
They made me realise that music isn’t just about sound—it’s about connecting people to something greater than themselves.”
Tosin’s passion for music began at a young age, and he has been committed to his craft ever since. “I love music because it brings me so much joy,” he explained
“It has the power to heal, inspire, and transform lives, and I’ve always wanted to use my music for that purpose.” Tosin started his music career at the Celestial Church of Christ Federal Housing Estate in Elega, Ogun State, Nigeria, and has since performed in various parishes across the UK, including CCC Ibara, CCC Surulere, CCC Oluwaseun Alayo, White City UK, Elephant and Castle UK, and Covenant Of God Parish UK.
As a gospel artiste in the UK, Tosin reflects on the challenges and opportunities that have shaped his growth. “The UK is home to a diverse musical scene, and it hasn’t always been easy for gospel artists to stand out,” he admits. “But the love and support I’ve received from fellow musicians and my audience have been overwhelming. It’s humbling to see that my music resonates with people from different backgrounds and cultures.”
With his distinctive blend of traditional Nigerian gospel sounds and a more modern, UK-influenced style, Tosin is emerging as one of Nigeria’s finest gospel exponents in the UK. “The gospel scene here is growing, and I’m proud to be part of that movement. It’s a great opportunity to bring the rich heritage of Nigerian gospel music to the international stage,” Tosin says. “Being part of a community of musicians who share similar values and a passion for worship has been a blessing.”
Tosin’s new single, Funmilayo, which features Tunde Stainless, is set to showcase his growth as an artist. “Collaborating with Tunde Stainless was a dream come true,” Tosin says. “His creativity and passion for music made this collaboration a seamless and inspiring experience. I believe this track will bring joy and inspiration to many listeners.”
“I want my music to be a source of strength for people. I want them to feel encouraged and empowered through every note, every lyric. My journey is just beginning, and I’m excited to see where it takes me.”
