Dr Becky Enenche, wife of Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has sparked online conversations with her remarks on the importance of consistent tithe payments in the life of a Christian.
Speaking in a resurfaced sermon clip that has now gone viral, Dr Enenche likened failing to pay tithes to pressing a delete button on one’s spiritual progress.
She asserted that missing a tithe nullifies previously paid tithes, effectively returning the individual to square one.
Using a relatable analogy, she compared the situation to losing unsaved work on a computer.
Dr Enenche emphasised that paying tithes consistently is essential, describing it as an act of returning God’s portion.

She said, “Paying your tithe, paying your tithe, returning God’s portion must be done consistently. Every time you miss your tithe, you go back to square one. The ones you did before become nullified. It’s like you pressed a delete button, gbam. And all the work you did before is gone.
“Have you ever been typing and somebody entered the room or something mistakenly? You have typed enough text. The content of what you’ve typed is sufficient and you are not saving as you were typing and suddenly you press delete. You can imagine how that feels. Now what more of such a thing as your tithe.”
Her comments have since sparked diverse reactions on social media, with some users supporting her stance on consistent tithing as an act of obedience, while others questioned the theological basis of equating missed tithes with erasing spiritual progress.
Tithing, a common practice in many Christian denominations, involves giving 10 percent of one’s income to the church as a form of worship and obedience to God. However, its necessity for salvation has long been a subject of theological debate.
