United States President, Donald Trump, has confronted South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa over discredited claims of a white genocide in the African country.
During a meeting that took place in the Oval Office, United States on Wednesday, Trump claimed that white farmers are “fleeing South Africa” and proceeded to play a video that showed a crowd chanting “kill the Boer, kill the farmer.”
According to the BBC, the moment marked the first time such a direct ambush had been witnessed during a high-level diplomatic meeting in the Oval Office.

In response to the video, Ramaphosa said the chants don’t represent government policy.
Despite the provocative nature of the footage, the South African leader maintained a calm demeanour throughout the encounter.
The moment drew comparisons to Trump’s past confrontation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, with analyst Anthony Zurcher noting, “There were parallels with the infamous Zelensky meeting in the Oval Office, but Ramaphosa kept his composure.”
The meeting comes amid increased attention to a group of 59 white South Africans who recently arrived in the United States and are reportedly set to be granted refugee status.
