The Nigerian federal government has extended its condolences to Russia following the tragic terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in Moscow last Friday.
According to reports, the assailants indiscriminately fired upon the crowd using automatic weapons and hurled a grenade into the hall before fleeing the scene.
Russia’s Investigative Committee has confirmed the devastating toll, with at least 115 fatalities reported as of Saturday. Authorities fear the casualty count may escalate further.
The Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the heinous act.
In a statement expressing solidarity with Russia, Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, conveyed heartfelt sympathies and offered prayers for the swift recovery of those injured in the attack.
“We convey our deepest condolences to the people and government of the Russian Federation on the tragic attack carried out at the Crocus Concert Hall in Moscow,” the statement reads.
“The attack resulted in the death of innocent people and injuries to more than a hundred others.
“We also pray for the quick recovery of those injured. At this challenging time, we stand in brotherhood with the government and the Russian Federation.
“We send our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.”
