The National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assured members and stakeholders of its commitment to addressing all complaints and petitions with fairness and transparency.

The NDC, which was inaugurated on August 21, 2024, held a series of preliminary meetings to prepare for the challenging tasks ahead.

As the committee prepares to commence its hearings, High Chief Tom Ikimi, Chairman of the NDC, in a statement on Saturday, emphasized the committee’s readiness to receive and address grievances from aggrieved party members through the National Working Committee (NWC) or any other appropriate channels.

Ikimi assured that the committee’s decisions would be made in strict compliance with the PDP constitution, which clearly outlines party offenses and corresponding sanctions.

“We are hopeful that our fairness, firmness, and decisiveness will restore the hope and confidence of our great party,” Ikimi said, highlighting the critical role the NDC will play in rebuilding trust within the party as well as among the wider Nigerian public.

The committee’s approach, Ikimi noted, will focus on upholding the principles of transparency and justice as it seeks to navigate the internal disputes and challenges the party faces.

He added that the NDC is committed to ensuring that the PDP remains united and focused on providing the national leadership the Nigerian public is urgently seeking.

As the committee embarks on its sensitive assignment, Ikimi called on all members and the party’s leadership to offer their full cooperation and support to ensure the successful execution of its mandate.

The NDC’s work is seen as critical in addressing internal party disputes and maintaining the integrity of the PDP ahead of future elections, as it aims to ensure that its decisions reflect the values of fairness, discipline, and unity within the party.

With growing anticipation surrounding the committee’s work, many PDP members are hopeful that its transparent handling of complaints will reinforce the party’s cohesion and help restore public confidence in its leadership.

The committee’s hearings are expected to commence shortly, with a range of petitions likely to be considered in the coming weeks.
