Nigeria belongs to us all. We have no other country except Nigeria. Nigerian youths must not allow selfish leaders to use them to destroy Nigeria. The question to be asked our leaders is this: what step did Federal Government of Nigeria take to eradicate poverty among its citizens?

As it is, there are growing tensions in Nigeria following the planned nationwide protest that is slated for the 1st day of August.

It has been written many times on the pages of newspapers that the Federal Government of Nigeria should address the challenges facing Nigerian youths. If one can get a copy of Nigerian Tribune newspaper published on the 28th of May, 2023 and go through it, one will read about the outrageous number of unemployed youths in Nigeria. Some Nigerian youths have vowed to go on with the protest despite the repeated appeal made by the government for them to shelve the said hunger protest.

It is said that a parent can’t beat his child with a stick and he does not want him to cry. The child will surely cry. This is exactly what is currently happening in Nigeria now. The Federal Government of Nigeria has been beating its citizens with unfavourable policies and it doesn’t want its citizens to react.

The youths want to storm the streets to protest hunger, insecurity, unemployment, rising in the cost of commodities. Who is to blame for the planned protest?

The Federal Government should act fast on this as nobody prays for a nationwide protest that can destroy Nigeria’s unity.

The government of United States of America and that of Great Britain have jointly warned their citizens not to travel to some identified states in Nigeria where the said protest would take place. The IGP Egbetokun should provide maximum security for the protesters. The police should not allow the hoodlums to hijack the protest from the peaceful protesters. The right of Nigerians to protest is well stated in the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended in 2011. We need peace in Nigeria.
