The Rivers State lawmakers have stated why they want Governor Similanayi Fubara impeached.
The lawmakers in Rivers State House of Assembly say they might remove Governor Similanayi Fubara from his position if they have no other choice.
There’s disagreement between the Assembly and Governor Fubara because of problems between him and the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike. Wike was once Fubara’s boss and mentor before things got bad between them.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Martins Amaehwule, talked to reporters in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, about the possibility of impeaching the governor.
He said “Governor Fubara didn’t follow the agreements made in a peace deal led by President Bola Tinubu”. Amaehwule reminded everyone that the Assembly’s job is to make laws, and they have the support of the people to do so.
Amaehwule asked the governor’s close friends to tell him to stick to the peace deal.
“Nobody, not even the governor, is more important than following the law. If necessary, the Assembly will impeach him.”.
Amaehwule promised the people of Rivers State that the Assembly would keep working for them despite threats and violence. He said nothing would stop them from doing their job properly.
