In a bold and strategic political move, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, a respected federal lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). His defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was formally announced today at the National Assembly in Abuja, where he was received by a high-powered delegation of APC leaders from Ijesa North.

Leading the APC delegation was the State Chairman of the party in Osun, Alhaji Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, accompanied by notable leaders including High Chief Emiola Ogunsanya, Hon. Isaac Felix Aboge, Hon. Israel Tomi Aloba, Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde, Hon. Chief Kayode Ajewole (Golo), Hon. Lasun Ogunsanya, Barr. Nathaniel Ojo, Hon. Chief Ademola Ajibola, Hon. Oyewole Oyebamiji, Bashorun Tayo Omojowogbe, Hon. Oluyide, Barr. Seun Odofin and several other key stakeholders from the zone. Their presence signaled the significance of Hon. Wole Oke’s decision and the unity within the APC ahead of future political engagements.
While welcoming Hon. Oke into the party, Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal commended his courage, vision, and unrelenting commitment to the welfare of his constituents. He described Oke’s defection as a gain for progressive politics in Osun State and a testament to the inclusive spirit of the APC.
High Chief Emiola Ogunsanya expressed immense joy and satisfaction over Oke’s decision, noting that efforts had long been made to bring the lawmaker into the progressive fold. “Today marks a turning point for Ijesa North. Hon. Wole Oke is a man of capacity, influence, and deep connection to the grassroots. His decision to join us is a sign of greater things to come,” Ogunsanya said.
Hon. Isaac Aboge and Hon. Israel Tomi Aloba also lauded the defection as a step in the right direction. They praised Oke for choosing the APC as a platform to continue his people-oriented representation and promised to work closely with him to advance the party’s interests across the constituency.
With Hon. Wole Oke now fully aligned with the APC, political watchers believe the party’s strength in Osun East Senatorial District has been significantly boosted. His entry into the party is expected to enhance the party’s grassroots appeal and reposition Ijesa North for greater political influence.
