Professor Zachariah Buba Yaduma has resumed office as the newly appointed Director General/CEO, of the Forestry Institute of Nigeria (FRIN).
He takes over from Professor Adeshola Adepoju whose eight-year tenure ended in March 2023.
Professor Yaduma comes in as the fifteenth head of the 69-year-old institute, and the second DG since FRIN got an enabling law in 2018
Born in Dzangola on November 15, 1963 at Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Yaduma is a professor of Wildlife Conservation and Management at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, Nigeria since 2014.
He had his higher education at the Federal University of Technology, Yola where he obtained B.Tech (Forestry and Wildlife Management) in 1991, followed by Masters in Ecosystem Management (Wildlife Conservation and Management), 2002 and PhD in the same course and same university in 2012.
Prof Yaduma started his work experience at the Ministry of Animal Health and Forestry Resources, Baissa, Taraba State between 1982 and 1996; Ministry of Agriculture, Yola, 1997 to 2004; Lecturer II, Adamawa State University, Mubi, 2005 to 2009; Ministry of Environment, Yola, 2009 to 2014; Modibbo Adama University, Yola, 2014 to 2023, before he was appointed as the DG FRIN.
He belongs to professional bodies including Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN), Wildlife Society of Nigeria (WlSON), Nigeria Association of Animal Health and Husbandry Technologist, Boys Bridget Girei Battalion Council (BB), International Circle of Faith Chaplaincy Corps (ICOFCC) and Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).
