Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has been honored with his fifth fellowship award by the Environmental Management Association of Nigeria (EMAN), as announced by his spokesperson, Malam Dauda Iliya, on Saturday.
The award recognizes Zulum’s outstanding contributions to environmental management and sustainable development, particularly his effective management of the recent flood disaster that affected 240,000 people and displaced 414,000.
“Governor Zulum’s prompt response mitigated the impact and saved lives,” EMAN stated.
Zulum’s leadership in establishing the Great Green Wall Agency, which has spearheaded the planting of millions of trees to combat desertification and climate change, was also commended.
This initiative demonstrates his commitment to environmental sustainability.
Notably, Zulum previously received the Environmental Excellence Award from the Nigerian Environmental Society for his remarkable efforts in addressing Maiduguri’s flooding impact.
“This latest recognition further underscores his dedication to community development.
“Governor Zulum’s achievements serve as a testament to his unwavering commitment to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development in Borno.”
