The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), on Friday, commenced the sale of 2024 e-tags that would permit entry into the 24 federal airports in Nigeria.

FAAN stated that the sale of the tags aligned with a presidential directive approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Purpose of E-Tag?

An E-tag, short for electronic tag, is a device used for electronic access gate fee collection, enabling vehicles to pass through access gates without stopping.

The e-tag is typically attached to the windshield of a vehicle and communicates wirelessly with access gate collection systems, automatically deducting the access fee from a prepaid account or charging it to a registered payment method. This technology helps reduce traffic congestion and speeds up the access fee collection process.

Who needs to pay the access gate fee?

Every motorist coming into the airport environment through the access gate.

How to pay for access gate fees?

You can pay with cash or with your card, using the POS terminal at the access gate.

Is the E-tag at all airports in Nigeria?

No, an E-tag is only used in Lagos & Abuja Airports. Stickers are sold for access at other Airports.

Is the E-Tag compulsory for motorists going through the access gate?

No, you can pay per entry into the airport with cash or with your card, using the POS terminal at the access gate.

Is the E-Tag transferrable?

No, the E-tag is registered to a particular vehicle and must be stuck on the windshield of the vehicle (Driver’s side) in order to gain access through the gate.

Requirements to pay at the car park after purchasing an E-Tag?

Yes, the E-Tag gives you access to the airport but paying to park for a period at the Airport is charged differently. Only VIP tags are used for access to the VIP car park.

What is the validity of the E-tag?

The E-tag is valid for one (1) year.

How to buy the E-Tag?
