101 students benefited from NELFUND — Kogi varsity VC

The Vice Chancellor of the Kogi State University (KSU), Kabba, Prof. Kehinde Eniola has disclosed that a total of 101 students have benefited from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) under President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

The VC who disclosed this at the University campus weekend during a press conference to mark the successful end of its first academic calendar, 2023/2024 academic session, noted that the tuition fee for the 101 students has been paid into the university account by NELFUND.

Explaining the journey so far, Prof. Eniola said the university admitted a total of 1,200 new students after a rigorous selection process in December 2023 and officially commenced academic activities on January 16, 2024.

While noting that the school has made significant progress in both academic and infrastructural development, said there was an agribusiness exhibition by students from the Business Administration department, which he said was to drive home the point that agriculture is the way to go, to guarantee food security in the country.

Prof. Eniola commended the former Governor of the state for establishing the university and the current Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who had ensured continuous funding for the rapid development of the ivory tower.

He equally thanked the Okun Development Association (ODA), North America for their support through the donation of 400 classroom chairs, saying that special mention must be made of  Pa Samuel who he said generously donated 100 palm seedlings, vintage furniture, and assorted stationeries to the university.

According to him, the University is equally making frantic efforts to ease the problems of accommodation and transportation for both students and workers of the university, even as he said that the institution’s management has taken delivery of 4 tricycles to ease mobility to and from the campus.

On the issue of security on campus, he maintained that the perimeter fence of the entire landscape of the university is nearing completion, he expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for the provision of five motorcycles for security patrols on the campus.

He noted that as part of activities to close the session, there were two presentations by the Theatre Arts department, which also marks the African Communication Day, organised by the Department of Mass Communication.

Eniola, to the press conference are; the University Librarian Dr. Mbashir Abdulateef Olanrewaju, Director of Academic Planning Prof. O.O. Ifatimehin, Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Joseph Enimola, Dean of Science and Computing, Dr. Lamidi Yusuf, Dean of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Joshua Ajenifaari and the Auditor, Mr. Abedoh Samuel Amoto.
