The Kano Police Command has arrested 189 armed robbery suspects and 34 suspected kidnappers while keeping vigil at the 17 Frontline Boarders of the state against the infiltration of bandits and other high-profile criminals.
Making this known on Tuesday, the state Commissioner, Salman Dogo Garba, stated that at the beginning of the year, he met security challenges across the 44 local government areas of the state, including threats of bandits, kidnappers and armed robbers in villages.
He said, ” At the beginning of the year, there were security challenges across the forty-four, 44 LGAs of the State, including the threat of infiltration of Bandits, Kidnapping and Armed Robbery along the villages in Seventeen, 17, frontline border LGAs of the States bordering Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa and Bauchi States.”

Garba emphasised that the resurgence of thuggery, Daba activities, drug abuse and other violent crimes within the 8 LGAs in the Kano metropolis and also reports of farmers and herders clashes in 19 LGAs that are neither at the border, nor the metropolis were the major problems he faced.
He highlighted that in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adcolu Egbetokun, an action plan was designed to effectively police the state.
“We applied robust community policing engagements, sustenance of targeted clearance operations, intelligence-led and visibility policing, synergy with sister security agencies, and strategic communication in public enlightenment and sensitization,” he added.
From 1st January to 31st December 2024, a total of two thousand, four hundred and twenty-five (2.425) suspects were arrested with recovery of firearms, dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, stolen properties, and other exhibits.
