The people of Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Headquarter, has declared that the ancient town belongs to the progressive party anytime regardless of mischievous and deceptive tendency of a self-acclaimed political lord of Ijesa North politics. This was declared at All Progressive Congress (APC) stakeholders neeting held at APC Secretariat, along Osogbo Road, Ibokun yesterday, Friday, January 6, 2023.
The meeting which was convened at the instance of APC leaders in Ibokun to deliberate on some cogent issues, has some community leaders in attendance.
The gathering unanimously adopted Barr. Seun Odofin as their candidate and enumerated various unsuccessful political tricks and manipulations employed by PDP candidate and his cohorts on many election periods to overturned the wishes of the people. They expressed disappointment that a party could be so shameless to present a complete and well established failure representative for re-election.
The people blamed corruptible life, shallow representation, inequity and injustice as the reasons for their decision to reject the present representative, describing any greedy and pretentious lover of the people as one that doesn’t deserve people’s mandate.
They expressed regrets that someone who came to power on a platter of gold could be desperate and ungrateful to created a cabal and conduit pipe that has succeeded in trading off huge developmental projects that should have benefited the constituency for self-service and enrichment.
‘As community, we don’t expect our town to be stagnant if our representative is active and up to his responsibilities. Beyond lawmaking, it’s the duty of our face and voice at the National Assembly to lobby for projects. You can’t solely continue to grow and leave the people and communities that made you behind. We have seen the performance of first-timer lawmakers but couldn’t identify any project facilitated by a man who has being there since 2003. To be called honourable is not about how much you have stolen or legitimately made but service delivery and responsibilities. If you lack the capacity, you don’t deserve the honour. When a representative don’t value the progress of constituents that gave him mandate and communities that made up his constituency, definitely, he has lost it all’.
Some of the speakers took turn to appreciate Seun Odofin for massive developments he has brought to the constituency. The gathering appreciated the quick ntervention of Hon. Seun Odofin who procured a brand new 500KVA transformer for the community amongs other supports immediately he was briefed about the blackout which erupted the town for many months as the community now enjoys full voltage and steady power supply.
They lauded the capacity of Hon. Odofin, the All Progressive Congress (APC) flag bearer in the 2023 Ijesa North Federal Constituency Election, for facilitating many projects which the current occupier has denied the constituency in the last 20 years. They wondered how former Special Adviser at National Assembly could be performing easily and within reasonable time frame what is difficult for an incumbent, senior ranking and long serving National Assembly Member. They thereafter prayed for Seun Odofin victory at poll as they promised him their unalloyed loyalty and support during the forthcoming election.
Responding, Hon. Seun Odofin thanked the good people of Ibokun for their steadfastness, support and exposure which has further established a better collaboration and provided better understanding of what a representative can do. He assured the people of more infrastructural developments and human capacity building if voted in to power.
