Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has said his government has built 2,326 new and renovated 707 classrooms across the 23 local government areas of the state since he assumed office last year under phase 1 of the school infrastructure upgrade.

This was even as he said, they have distributed over 34,000 pupils and teachers’ furniture.

He made this known on Saturday while commissioning blocks of 18 classrooms at two basic education schools in the Zaria Local Government Area of the State.

The ceremony, which was part of activities lined up to celebrate his one year in office, witnessed the commissioning of a two-story block of 12 classrooms at Shehu Idris Basic Education School, Babban Dodo, Zaria, a school with a population of 3,470, and Abubakar Mairago Basic Education School, Zaria, where a one-story block of six classrooms was commissioned.

Governor Sani said his government’s commitment to educational development is informed by the realisation that education is the cornerstone of any thriving society.

Represented by the Secretary to State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, Governor Sani noted that education empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and drives economic growth; hence, by investing in educational infrastructure, the government’s government is laying a solid foundation for the future of Kaduna State and Nigeria.

“As part of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani’s Administration’s commitment to improving the quality of teaching and learning in our dear state, we are here to commission a new block of 12 classrooms and several rehabilitated classroom blocks at Basic Education School Shehu Idris, Babban Dodo, Zaria.

“Today’s event is not just about the opening of new buildings; it is about our collective dedication to fostering a conducive learning environment for our children. This project represents our steadfast commitment to ensuring that every child in Kaduna State has access to quality education in a safe and supportive environment.

“Education is the cornerstone of any thriving society. It empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and drives economic growth. By investing in our educational infrastructure, we are laying a solid foundation for the future of our state and our nation. The new and rehabilitated classrooms we are commissioning today are equipped to provide our students with the resources they need to excel academically and personally.

“Over the past year, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani’s administration has made significant strides in the education sector. He has prioritised the improvement of school facilities, teacher training, and the provision of learning materials.

“Currently, under Phase I of this administration’s Schools Infrastructure Facilities Upgrade, we are building 2,326 new classrooms and renovating 707 more across the 23 local governments of the state. We have also distributed more than 34,000 pupils’ and teachers’ furniture.

“These efforts are all aimed at creating an educational system that is inclusive, equitable, and capable of producing the leaders of tomorrow,” the governor said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Chairman, Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board, Malam Tijjani Abdullahi, commended Governor Uba Sani for his unwavering dedication to the education sector, saying that his relentless efforts and strategic initiatives have brought about transformative changes that will have a lasting impact on generations to come.

He said, “As we are all aware, education is the bedrock of development, and by investing in our schools, we are investing in the future of our state and our nation. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, for his unwavering dedication to the education sector.

“These infrastructures will not only enhance the learning environment for our children but also serve as a foundation for their future successes,” he said.

Also at Abubakar Mairago Basic Education School, Zaria, a one-story block of six classrooms was commissioned.
