Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and during this time, Muslims around the world fast from sunrise to sunset for 29–30 days.

The Islamic calendar is based on the moon, so Ramadan happens at different times each year.

Here are some food options to break your fast during Ramadan, especially if you’re in Nigeria:

  1. LIQUIDS: Drink water, zobo, tiger nut milk, tapioca, ogi, or custard. This helps you stay hydrated and also facilitates digestion.
  2. FRUITS: Eat fruits like apples, watermelons, oranges, salad, cucumbers, etc.
  3. SOUP: Choose foods like pepper soup and vegetable soups. These also have enough water and nutrients to help you stay energized and avoid feeling tired.
  4. MAIN MEALS: These include Jollof rice, Fried rice, Elubo, Beans, Moi-moi, Yam, etc
  5. SWALLOW: Swallow is also best for breaking fast, for lasting energy. These include pounded yam, amala, or potato poundo with soups like Egusi, Ogbono, and Efo. Add meat, fish, chicken, or turkey for protein.
