An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ado Ekiti has granted bail to a 67-year-old Chief Atemoloro Anthony on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forceful entry, unlawful damage and unlawful offer of land for sale.
Atemoloro Anthony was arraigned for allegedly forcibly encroaching the land of Omolayo Sunday and unlawfully damaging the fence and building valued N2.5m.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant committed offences contrary to and punishable under sections 421, 65, 329 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021 and section 9 sub-sections 1, a, b and c of Anti-land grabbing Laws of Ekiti State, 2019.
Counsel to the defendant, Tope Salami prayed the court via a bail application to admit his client to bail in liberal terms.
The Police prosecutor, Bamikole Olasunkanmi did not oppose the bail application but asked for a date to assemble his witnesses.
In his ruling, Magistrate Michael Faola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000. 00 and two sureties in the like sum.’’
