The Anambra State Police Command has commended residents for their continuous support and cooperation in the fight against cultism and other related crimes in the state.
The command particularly lauded the hoteliers and proprietors of bars and event/recreation centres for obeying the security directive.
Recall that the State Police Command, on Saturday evening, declared illegal the proposed 7/7 cult day celebration scheduled to take place in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Sunday, July 7th, 2024.
The Command in a statement, also warned hoteliers and proprietors of bars and event/recreation centres to be cautious about such gatherings and their likes in their facilities, as there will be consequences if found wanting.
However, the Command’s spokeswoman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, while speaking to Journalists at the Command’s Headquarters Amawbia on Monday, called for sustained cooperation.
He said, “I am happy with the level of cooperation we got from the public, regard the Sunday 7/7 cult celebration day.
“There was no form of gathering or casualty recorded anywhere around the state. This is the type of atmosphere we want in Anambra State.”
While also commending the State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, for his continuous effort to keep Anambra safe, the PPRO warned criminal elements and other members of the public to desist from anything capable of jeopardising the peace and tranquilly in the state.
