The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo state, Senator Teslim Folarin has described the re-election of Kayode Martins-led executive council of the Nigerian Labour Congress, (NLC) as a good omen for workers in the state.
Folarin was quoted in a statement by his media aide YSO Olaniyi as saying that the re-election of Comrade Martins led executive has further justified the confidence that the members of the union repose in his leadership.
The former Senate leader in his congratulatory message has expressed his readiness, if voted as the next governor of the state on 18th March 2023 to collaborate with the union at ensuring a better welfare package for the members of the various unions in the state.
Folarin who restated his commitment to the well-being of the workers in the state said he would work in collaboration with all the elected governors in the region at ensuring the Local government autonomy that workers have been agitating for.
He also assured workers that none of them would lose their jobs while those that were unjustly sacked would be reinstated.
According to him, “Oyo state will regain its pride of place with the support of the various labour unions under the umbrella of the NLC.
“NLC’s position in good governance cannot be under-emphasized that is why our party, APC places a high premium on the union.
“In Oyo state, we have discovered that the union is being shortchanged especially with the non-remittance of the deductions. All these will be addressed.
“The door of our administration will be opened to the leadership of the union. We are going to run an all-inclusive administration.
“I want to restate that prompt payment of salaries and pensions will be our priorities.”
