AMAC Marshal lauds Maikalangu as Council commences payment of salary arrears

The Abuja Municipal Area Council Marshal, popularly known as AMAC Marshal, has commended the Council Chairman, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu for commencing the settlement of salary arrears owed the organisation for several months.

AMAC Marshal General, Kashim Isiaku Karshi disclosed this to journalists in a recent interview in his office at the AMAC permanent headquarters, Apo resettlement.

Karshi, while commending the Chairman for the settlement of some salary arrears, praised him for making available funds for the renewal of Marshal’s operating license for this year, to enable it operate.

His words: “I appreciate the effort of the new AMAC Chairman, Hon. Christopher Maikalangu for paying AMAC Marshal three months out of the several months we are left behind.

“I also want to call his attention and other AMAC stakeholders to see AMAC Marshal as an AMAC project. It is non-religious, non-tribal and non-political. After service, we are now home to take responsibility of our communities security-wise”.

The Marshal General recalled that the security organisation, during its initial stage, performed creditably well in curbing insecurity in the Council.

Karshi however lamented that lack of welfare for officers of the Marshal became a major challenge during past administrations, even as he wished: “We wish to continue on this good note. All we need is the political will to assist us and enable us to work much more effectively”, he said.

Appealing for the strengthening of the security outfit to improve on the provision of security services in the area council, the Marshal General revealed that his organization usually assists the conventional security agencies, including the Police, Department of State Security (DSS) and Military in controlling criminal activities in the Council.

He also stated that if AMAC allowed the Marshal to operate independently, it would be able to pay own salaries and also pay the Council, as well as employ more youths, taking them off the street.

Recall that AMAC Marshal was formed in June 2016 by the AMAC administration of Abdullahi Adamu Candido to tackle insecurity in the Council.
