The Kano State Police Command has said that it has deployed over 3,000 officers and men of the command to monitor and ensure peaceful conduct of the forthcoming supplementary elections slated for Saturday in the State.

The Commissioner of Police CP) Mamman Dauda disclosed this during a stakeholder meeting on the supplementary election which took place at the INEC office in Kano.

Speaking on his behalf the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations DCP Mu’azu Mohammad said the police and other security agencies in the state had already mapped out a befitting security architecture aimed at ensuring peaceful Elections.

He advises political parties to warn and caution their supporters against political thuggery and election violence, saying anyone found wanting will face the full wrath of the Law.

Earlier, the Resident Electoral Officer Ambassador Abdu Zango said even though the presidential and gubernatorial elections were peaceful in Kano, some Federal and State Constituencies witnessed challenges that resulted in supplementary elections.

According to him, some of the affected polling units where the supplementary elections would hold include Danbatta, Makoda, Dawakin Tofa, Gabasawa, and Gezawa.

Others are Gaya, Takai, Garko, Wudil, Warawa, Ungogo, Ajingi, Gwarzo, Tudun Wada, and Fagge.

Ambassador Zango reassured the commitment of INEC to ensuring free, fair, and credible elections.

He advises all political parties that have grievances to seek redress through legal means for peace to continue to reign in Kano.

The stakeholder’s meeting was attended by representatives of political parties, Civil Society organizations, security, and the media.
