Two suspected armed robbers burnt to death in Ibadan

Nemesis has caught up with the two suspected armed robbers as angry mob burnt them to death after an unsuccessful operation at Popoyemoja area in Ibadan South West local government area, Ibadan on Tuesday

The suspected robbers, who, as reliably informed, operates on motorbike after dispossessing a victim (name withheld} of his valuables, including mobile telephone set  at Popoyemoja but were trailed and caught after the victim raised the alarm

The incident which drew the attention of the people living in the neighborhood and passersby, happened at 6;30am.

An eyewitness account alleged the armed robbers to be responsible for several armed robbery operations in Akuro, Iyana lodge, sharp corner, Odion,  Popoyemoja, Oredein areas of Ibadan before nemesis caught up with them.

Irate youths from the community descended heavily on the suspected armed robbers, and arrested two while the other one managed to escape from the scene of the incident.

It was further gathered that the suspects had earlier allegedly robbed , shot and snatched a motorcycle from an unidentified person at Ososanmi area of Ibadan after which they had escaped before getting to Akuro where they were attacked after another robbery in Akuro.

But, the youths in the community gave them a hot pursuit and later caught up with them.One of the robbers reportedly escaped while the two others were unlucky.

Further information revealed the alleged robbers were attacked with stones and other dangerous objects before they were set ablazed in the Ogunpa drainage

While it was also stated that gun and cutlass were said to be on them when they were attacked and the snatched motorcycle which was also destroyed by the mob.

Meanwhile when contacted the Oyo state Police Public Relations Officer , SP Adewale Osifeso  confirmed the incidence, adding that “investigation on the case is still ongoing and update would be provided “
