The management of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) under the leadership of Professor Isiaq Oloyede came under attack from the members of the public following its decision to vehemently reject the UTME result of Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme as being fake.

The said Mmesoma Ejikeme was accused by JAMB of forging her result. However, Mmesoma and members of the public including her father denied the allegation of forgery levelled against her.

Nigeria parents have a lot of work to do as some children of today are very anxious to become a rich overnight.

For me, what prompted Mmesoma to forge her JAMB result was the N3million scholarship award that was budgeted for whoever scored the highest mark in the just concluded 2023 UTME examination.

My advice to Nigeria parents is this: if any allegation of an offence is levelled against a child, it is the duty of a parent to launch a thorough investigation into the said allegation before fighting with the accusers.

The questions to be asked are: Can Mmesoma alone think of forging her result as she is too young to think of committing such serious criminal offence? Will JAMB forgive Mmesoma for presenting the fake result? Who is to blame for the unbecoming action of Mmesoma? Why did she refuse to tell the truth to her father?

The JAMB registrar, Professor Isiaq Oloyede is known by all and sundry as a man of integrity who is not capable of blocking the progress of another person’s child.

The said Mmesoma has confessed. Miss Mmesoma is still a young girl and she has a long way to go in life. It is just a pity that her parents could allow her unbecoming attitude of not being a straightforward person to be exposed to the members of the public now. As a parent, I want to appeal to the management of JAMB to forgive Mmesoma by allowing her to use her original result to secure admission into the university since she has confessed. This will serve as a lesson to other parents and students who are preparing to forge their UTME results.
