Bauchi State deputy governor, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, on Monday reiterated the determination of the state to promptly pay all its counterpart funds in the state.
Jatau said this on Monday in his office during the quarterly review meeting of the State Task Force (STF) on Primary Healthcare (PHC), which he co-chairs with the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman., on Monday.
Jatau officially took over the chairmanship of the committee in his capacity as the deputy governor.
While welcoming members of the committee for a maiden meeting at the Conference Hall of Deputy Governor’s Office, Jatau pledged to provide leadership that will assist the state government to achieve its goals on PHC delivery.
He solicited the support of the entire membership of the STF Committee on PHC, notably the local government chairmen, traditional rulers, development partners and other relevant stakeholders in order to ensure effective implementation of the committee’s objectives.
He expressed gratitude to the co-chair of the committee who is the Emir of Dass, for his steadfastness and commitment towards the committee’s assignment.
He especially noted the efforts at the grassroots level and observed that the social mobilisation and community engagement activities could not have been striving without his productive intervention.
“I am delighted to welcome you all to this meeting of the STF Committee on PHC. As you are all aware, this is the first time I am chairing this kind of meeting since my assumption as the new deputy governor of the state
“Interestingly, the management of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency had briefed me on the composition, terms of reference and roles as well as responsibilities of the STF
“Let me assure you that, in my capacity as the new chairman, I will ensure that quarterly review meetings are holding as scheduled,” he said.
He used the medium to reassure stakeholders, particularly, donor agencies on the commitment of Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration towards the payment of counterpart funds to enhance access to health interventions.
On his part, the co-chair of the committee congratulated the deputy governor on his emergence as the new chairman of the STF on PHC and assured him of the support of the entire members so as to succeed in the task ahead.
The emir expressed hope that the committee, under the leadership of the deputy governor will strive to do more excellently than what was done in the last four years.
