The Imo State Command has paraded 53 suspects ranging from child trafficking, armed robbery, kidnappings, murder, IPOB/ESN terrorism activities, vandalization of NEPA cables, car snatching and stolen property.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the Imo State Police Command on Wednesday, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, CSP Henry Okafor on behalf of the Command Commissioner of Police, CP Muhamned Barde said that most of the suspects arrested are largely males with 2 females as the case may be.
He pointed out that the crimes committed by these suspects range from conspiracy, child trafficking, kidnappings, armed robbery, stolen property, involvement in IPOB/ESN terrorism activities, car snatching and murder, vandalisation of NEPA cables amongst others.
Okoye said that 15 kidnapped victims were rescued alongside w with recovered arms and ammunition which include 32 rifles, 15 pump action guns, 100 live cartridges, 7 motorcycles amongst others.
Speaking on the incident of sit-at-home enforcers that occurred on 9th July 2023 in the state, the PPRO said that the Command has so far arrested 26 suspects arrested and they are still under investigation.
He said that the command alerted of the sporadic shooting by the gunmen who tried to enforce sit-at-home order, the operatives immediately mobilized to the scene and overwhelmed and on combing the hotel situated at Cartering bus stop Free Zone Irete and nearby bush, the operatives recovered some arms.
The Spokesman of the command disclosed that a 22 year Obinna Ugochukwu who hails from Ikeduru LGA of Imo State was arrested for stabbing his friend Nwachukwu Stanley.
He said that the suspects had confessed to the crime.
Okafor disclosed the arrest of a 29 year old Emeka Egbuaba for killing and harvesting vital organ of one Sistus Ezebudo from Ihitte-Owerri in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo.
He said that the suspects had confessed to being in business of organ harvesting and had killed and took away the vital organ of his friend.
