Ahead of the planned nationwide protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress against the recent hike in the price of petrol, organised labour in Nasarawa State has commenced mobilisation of workers to participate fully in the action.
The State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ismaila Oko, stated this at the end of an emergency meeting with leaders of all the unions that make up the organised labour in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

Comrade Ismaila Oko said the workers had been mobilized to turn up in large numbers and gather along Lafia Shendam road in the state capital to proceed with the protest.
Comrade Oko noted that workers were committed to the protest as directed by the national body of the Nigeria Labour Congress to draw attention to the government and urge them to take measures towards reducing the hardship resulting from the removal of fuel subsidy.
The state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Salihu Alkali, pointed out that the situation was becoming unbearable, as most workers could no longer afford three square meals since the increase in the price of petrol.
