Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 5 suspected criminals for various criminal offences including armed robbery and conspiracy to commit offence.

The command stated that it is an effort to subdue crime and criminality in the state and curb crimes and every form of criminality.

A Police bulletin by the PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili contained that “the command arrested one Umar Abubakar, aged 24 AKA (Barbertov) following a complaint received on the 1st August 2023 by detectives attached to the A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Bauchi.

“The suspect who was armed with a dangerous weapon, trespassed into the victim’s house situated at Kandahar Area of Bauchi and attempted to steal the victim’s Jincheng motorcycle, AX 100 model.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect belongs to a notorious underworld group that specialized in burgling innocent citizens’ houses and robbing their valuables in Bauchi metropolitan.

“However, during interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and Is currently cooperating with the detectives in indicting some of his accomplices. Meanwhile, all efforts have been intensified to arrest the indicted accomplices.

“In a related development, on 31/07/2023, operatives attached to Soro Divisional Police Headquarters arrested Yahaya Inusa and Abubakar Ibrahim, all armed with Dane-gun and cutlass, stormed the victim’s residence at about 2300hrs and demanded money.

“The victim showed some resistance to the suspects by confronting one of the suspects who was armed with a Dane gun, this scared the suspects and took to their heels.

“Upon receiving the information, detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer drafted to the scene and recovered exhibits abandoned by the suspects, investigation was initiated which led to the arrest of the suspects.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having committed the crime. Meanwhile, the suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.”

The command also arrested two suspects for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, causing grievous hurt and receiving stolen property.

The information available at the Command’s disposal revealed that “on 27/07/2023 at about 2000hrs, some group of unknown persons numbering about four, armed with machetes and other deadly weapons robbed a handheld phone, Techno WP3S belonging to one Destiny Samuel, 11 years and Numzar Gambo ‘9 years all of Birshi Gandu area of Bauchi state.

“On receipt of the information, Police Detectives attached to E’ Divisional Headquarters led by the DPO swung into action, rushed to the scene and arrested some suspects.

“The suspects arrested are Usman Musa, 18 years aka Kan Daki of Gwallameji, Usama Sulaiman, 18 years aka Keya of Birshi Gandu who all confessed to having partaken in the nefarious act and indicted two other persons who have been at large, as the Command launched a manhunt to have them arrested.

“As the investigation went on, the following exhibits were recovered from the suspects; one Itel phone, one Machete, five sticks, one Samsung Galaxy-S8 black in colour, one Samsung Galaxy AO3 red in colour, one Techno KB7J blue in colour and one Techno Pouvoir gold colour.

“Other items recovered are one Itel blue in colour, one Panasonic phone blue in colour, one Itel 1516 plus gold colour, one Techno blue colour, one Techno A33 pink colour, one Power bank black in colour, one Lenovo laptop in black colour, one ASUS laptop in black colour, one Compaq laptop black colour, twenty-three GSM pouch, one Laptop charger, one Mouse and one Phone charger.

“A discreet investigation is ongoing, after which the suspects will be profiled and charged in court.”

The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad commended the efforts of the officers for their unrelenting commitment and professionalism in discharging the statutory duties towards curtailing all forms of criminal nuisance in the state.
