A cleric, pastor Ugochukwu Anike has asked President Bola Tinubu to increase the salaries of civil servants by 40 per cent.
Speaking with newsmen in Owerri on Monday, Anike a Senior Pastor of the Censers Church Inc. WorldWide said the hardships Nigerians are passing through as a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy were unbearable.
He also appeal to the federal government to as a matter of urgency immediately commence implementing policies and programmes that would instantly cushion the effects of the removal of the subsidy on fuel.
He said: ” Nigerians are suffering a lot. The hardships occasioned by the removal of the subsidy on fuel are excruciating. The president should immediately increase the salaries of civil servants by 40 per cent.”
Describing fuel as one of the regulators of the economy, the cleric pointed out that the prices of things have increased tremendously.
He said: “People are going through a lot. Mr president should immediately start implementing pro-people programmes and policies which will drastically cushion the effects of the hardships Nigerians are passing through owing to the removal of the subsidy on fuel.”
Anike advised that the intervention programmes should trickle down to the people at the grassroots so as to genuinely fight poverty and the hardships the people are going through.
Anike is also an international speaker, author, dynamic teacher, and preacher.
