The battlefield is laced with deadly thorns
and rocky explosion of Boko Bombs.
They danced and survived the rhythm of death in Sambisa
and casket houses their remains enroute Kaduna to Abuja.
They were valorous men of war in khaki
who fought day and night to defend motherland.
Alas! Men of war on board for official assignment
and home we carried them through shoulder high.
Who said death is not cheap in my land ?
For all time he comes like a regular visitor.
The rail, air, ship, land are death boarders.
All transit routes link to the world beyond.
Dear God!
Repose the soul of Attahiru and other men
who died like cows slaughtered in abattoir.
Repose the souls of our departed heroes
who lost the battle to Boko Bombs
who gave up the ghost to bandits and kidnappers
whose lives were shattered by killer herdsmen.
Alas! it is not yet time to lay bed
but their sun is set at noon.
The warriors have died a valorous death.
Farewell to our heroes!
