The Spiritual founder of One Love Family, Sat Guru Maharaj has called on President Bola Tinubu to put in place economic measures that would alleviate the suffering of the downtrodden masses which arises from the removal of fuel subsidy.
He, however, assured the people that there would not be military intervention in the nation’s polity as experienced in Niger Republic and Republic of Gabon.
Maharaj, who disclosed this in an exclusive chat with Tribune Online in Ibadan on Wednesday, assured citizens that regardless of the present happenings in the Country, there would not be a coup d’etat.
He allayed the fear of the people on the possible intervention of the soldiers in Nigeria polity, adding that as God sent, there would not be anything like.
The Spiritual leader who admitted the nation”s economy is not what it used to be in the past stressed the need for the people that are entrusted with the various responsibilities to be questioned.
He described Nigeria as a consuming nation hence the instability of the nation’s currency at the International market.
Maharaj argued that naira can be at par with dollars if the Country reduced its level of importation.
According to him, Nigeria imports virtually everything including farm produce. The money saved from the subsidy removal should be channeled to the Manufacturing sector.
“Nigeria spends so much money on medical tourism. Most of the ailments can be treated here in Nigeria with herbs and shrubs.
“Our forebears through herbs and shrubs got treatment for various diseases. It is high time that we looked inward. Let us develop our own.
“Also money accrued from subsidy removal must be invested wisely. Government should invest massively in Agriculture and other sectors that are of benefit to mankind.
“President Tinubu, with his wealth of experience, has all that it takes to reposition the economy of the country,” he said.
The Spiritual leader also, in another development, gave the Kwara state government and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) a 90-day ultimatum to release those arrested during the last Isese Day.
He described it as a gross violation of human rights, noting that Nigeria is a secular state where citizens have rights to practice any religion as enshrined in the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Maharaj submitted; “over 95% of the indigenes and residents of Kwara state are Yorubas. If these are not contesting an Emir for being their traditional ruler, I don’t understand why they should not be allowed to practice their religion.”
