Jigawa State Government has approved the increase of the state scholarships by 100 per cent for all students studying at both state and federal government-owned tertiary institutions.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa while briefing the newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting presided over by the State Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi.
According to the Commissioner, “The Jigawa state executive council has approved an upward review of scholarship allowances for Jigawa indigenous students both at state and federal tertiary institutions nationwide”.
Mr Musa explained that; “The upward review is by 100 per cent to cover Tuition fee and Maintenance allowances”.
He added; “While the Transport allowance has been increased to 150%. The Council has also approved the commencement of the implementation of the bursary payment in the forthcoming session in November, 2023”.
The Commissioner disclosed further that the council has also approved the formalizing of an employment of temporary 3,000 junior secondary and primary schools.
Mr. Sagir Musa said the newly employed teachers who were holders of National Certificate Education (NCE) will cost the state government the sum of N161,964,877.55 as salary monthly.
“Also the council has today approved the deployment of 1,973 graduates from the Ministry of Basic Education to High Education to various schools across the State with a projected salary cost of N212,315,189.97 monthly,” he added.
