ALL Oyo State civil servants including the messengers and cleaners currently on the monthly payroll of the state are happy. They were dancing to thank the governor following the recent approval of the payment of N25,000 to all of them to cushion the hardship following the sudden removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu. The question to be asked Oyo State civil servants is this: what else do they want the governor to do for them? Governor Seyi Makinde has promised to put smile on the faces of Oyo State workers and the entire good citizens of this state. He has fulfilled the promise made to state workers. But what of the good people of Oyo State who are not the state payroll? We have a large number of the poorest in Oyo State. These people are not on Oyo State government payroll so they don’t have access to the recent N25,000 relief fund. Governor Makinde must not forget them. They are part of those who voted for him. I want to urge the governor to set up a committee that will look into plight of the poorest in the state and how they will also benefit from the government relief. Let us allow the poorest to breathe. Other state governors should follow in the footsteps of Governor Makinde.
