On Sunday, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, commissioned a maternity centre built and equipped by the church in Ekiti state.

The multi-million facility, with modern medical equipment, was built by the RCCG Life Fountain Cathedral, Ekiti state Region 25 headquarters, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Speaking while commissioning the facility at the premises of the church, Adeboye, who was represented by the Assistant General Overseer, Admin & Personnel and the Continental Overseer for Africa Continent 3, RCCG, Pastor Funsho Odesola, said the facility would afford members and people in the state the opportunity to seek solutions to their maternal and other health challenges.

He commended the leadership of the church for coming up with the idea of committing resources to put in place the facility, expressing optimism that God will use the facility to bring joy to homes and families in the state.

He states, “Everyone that is Godly must also be progressive in mindset; the building of the facility is a step ahead and to a high level, and we thank God for the church here for thinking out something good.

“One of the things the Holy Spirit does is to give you the strength to think out of the box, and the church has done it, and we hope to see more constructive ideas for the progress of our church and its members.

“The RCCG maternity hospitals are like a life centre; people who have been sentenced to death, that they can’t give birth again, they come there, and even people with negative medical reports come and receive healing.

“I am sure the Regional pastor and his wife, who is a midwife, will do a lot with this facility to help people with maternal issues and impact greatly on our people. Those who carry generational problems and cases that medical people said were impossible, God of possibilities made them possible.”

The wife of the Regional Pastor, Pastor Esther Abdullahi, said the church was committed to the health needs of its members and the people, especially pregnant women, hence the idea of the maternity centre with modern equipment.

She lamented that many people lost their lives at the hands of quacks, saying the church was determined to end the trend of death of pregnant women by offering quality services at the centre with professionals.

“It is the vision of the RCCG to have maternity centres in all our churches, and I decided, being a midwife, to have a modern and befitting centre at the headquarters in Ekiti to the glory of God to make even unbelievers outside enjoy the blessing of the almighty God.

“In line with the agenda of the wife of the state governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, to end the trend of pregnant women dying during delivery, we have put in place this centre where our women will come to have safe and sound deliveries,” she said.

On her part, the commissioner for Women’s Affairs in the state, Mrs Peju Babafemi, commended the church’s initiative towards the members and the generality of the people, which she said would help afford pregnant women access to quality maternity services.
