Construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, has commenced multibillion naira projects in Warri, Effurun parts of the oil-rich Delta State.
The projects, four in number, worth over N77 billion and are: “design and construction of flyover bridge from Enerhen junction, Effurun to Marine Gate, Warri in Uvwie and Warri South local government areas.
“Study, design and construction of road expansion and improvement works on the section of DSC/NPA expressway from Effurun Roundabout to DSC Roundabout on the Effurun/Patani (East/West) Highway, including construction of a three quarter Cloverleaf Interchange at the Existing Effurun Flyover Bridge, as well as two pedestrian bridges, in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.
“Design and construction of Flyover Bridge at PTI junction, along the Effurun/Patani (East/West) Highway, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area.
“Design and construction of Flyover at DSC Roundabout, along the Effurun/Patani (East/West) Highway, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area.”
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the projects on Monday, Julius Berger’s Managing Director, Dr Lars Richter, disclosed that the project would be delivered within 27 months.
He commended the Governor Sheriff Oborevworiled government for giving the construction work to Julius Berger to handle for the state.
The Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III, who was represented by Dr Rolland Oritsejafor, a former minister of defence, lauded the governor, with a pledge to rally support in ensuring success of the projects which, he said, would unify the people.
On his part, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Emmanuel Sideso Abe I, on behalf of the people of Uvwie Kingdom, thanked Governor Oborevwori for making it possible that his kingdom like Warri benefits from the projects.
While assuring Julius Berger of adequate protection of the project throughout the duration of the construction, he advised the management of the construction company to engage youths of the community, ensure not to down tools if they are owed, promising the governor would not owe them.The groundbreaking was performed by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Monday where he promised to upgrade roads across the state.
