The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to cease expending its energy on opposition parties instead of concentrating on the governance it was elected to undertake.

Ladipo Johnson, NNPP’s National Auditor, read a prepared speech signed by the party’s acting national chairman, Abba Kawu Ali.

He emphasised that the APC’s lack of focus on governance has negatively impacted Nigerians, resulting in the country being labelled the poverty capital of the world and experiencing an escalation in insecurity.

“Our appeal to the APC is to prioritize governance. Having employed various means to attain power, they should now direct at least 25 percent of the energy currently dispersed in confronting opposition parties toward governance.

This shift could prevent the Naira’s downward trajectory into the abyss. Despite removing the so-called subsidy, fuel remains unavailable at filling stations. Nigerians are now enduring the worst form of multi-dimensional poverty in the history of mankind, while insecurity continues to intensify each day.

“The APC government appears uninterested in delivering good governance, focusing instead on stifling opposition parties and other institutions within the country.”
