A weeklong activity for the coronation of the new Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola Olawale Adeyeri 111, kicked off on Friday with a special Jumat service and public lecture at the Aseyin palace.
The programme of events, as disclosed by the Chairman of the Iseyin local government, Hon. Abilawon Mufutau Osuolale, in an interview with the Saturday Tribune, includes a football competition, a meeting of traditional worshippers, a presentation of the staff of the office, and a Thanksgiving service at Koso Baptist Church, Iseyin.
He said the presentation of the staff of offices to the new monarch would be performed by Governor Seyi Makinde on December 14, 2023.
Osuolale, who is full of praise for Governor Makinde for ensuring a successful transition programme, said necessary security arrangements have been put in place for the security of lives and property.
He assured the people that Iseyin would experience rapid socioeconomic growth during the reign of the new Aseyin.
He also called on the people, especially the princes from the various ruling houses, to garner developmental support for the new monarch.
In his lecture entitled Developmental Challenges, Dr Rilwan Alawode urged the monarch to bring to bear his wealth of experience in transforming the ancient town of Iseyin.
Oba Alawode needs the support of the sons and daughters of the land at home and diaspora in the noble assignment.
Kabiyesi should muzzle enough strength in his fight against corrupt practices and other criminal activities.
Also, there can never be meaningful development in an atmosphere of chaos. As a result, the Indigenes of Iseyin should always work together as a formidable team.
