The ancient town of Idanre, in the Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State, will host President Bola Tinubu and the Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Chief Pius Akinyelure, at the annual Idanre Day celebration.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Idanre Development Assembly (IDA), Chief (Dr.) Anthony Omolola, who said all arrangements had been put in place to host dignitaries billed to attend the prestigious annual Idanre Day celebration.
Omolola stated that the grand finale of the celebrations is scheduled for Saturday, December 9, 2023, and will be held at the Olofin Grammar School in Idanre.
He said the annual celebration is put together to celebrate the culture and heritage of the Idanre Kingdom.
He said the celebration also catalyses the town’s tourism development, saying there will be displays by clubs, associations, and groups that will pay traditional homage to Oba Dr. Fredrick Adegunle Aroloye, the traditional ruler of the town.
According to the chairman of IDA, the body saddled with coordinating and facilitating the sociocultural and general development of the Kingdom, the celebrations will witness a variety of activities.
He listed the activities to include a fundraiser at which the member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Festus Akingbaso, will serve as chief launcher.
