The joint task force troops in the northwest, Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), have neutralised three armed bandits, recovered three AK-47s, three magazines, and ammunition, and thwarted an attack on the community in Zamfara state.
A close source from the military disclosed on Friday in Gusau that following a serious firefight, some of the terrorists were neutralised while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
He disclosed that the troops have also repelled attacks on Danjibga village in Tsafe local government area and averted farm produce destruction in Faru village of Maradun local government in Zamfara state.
“On December 7, 2023, the joint troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) repelled a terrorist attack on Danjibga village in Tsafe LGA of Zamfara State, following a serious firefight that left two of the terrorists neutralised while others escaped with gunshot wounds.”
“The troops recovered 2 AK47 rifles, 2 magazines, and one (1) motorcycle during the pursuit of the terrorists.”.
“Similarly, on the same date, another encounter ensued between the OPHD troops and the marauding terrorists, following credible information on the destruction of farm produce and farm lands at Faru village in the general area of Maradun LGA of Zamfara State.”.
“The resilient troops of OPHD immediately mobilised for a fighting patrol and engaged the terrorists in a gun duel, forcing the terrorists to flee in disarray.”
“During the encounter, one (1) terrorist was neutralised while one (1) AK-47 rifle, magazine, ammunition, and one (1) motorcycle were recovered. The motorcycle was destroyed instantly.”.
The source urged people in the state, the general public, and locals to assist the troops with timely information about the criminals’ activities for prompt action in the state.
