A federal lawmaker representing Sokoto East senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, in continuation of supporting students of the senatorial district on Wednesday, donated the sum of N142 million to them.
The fund which is N50,000 per student, covering 2,840 students of various higher institutions, aims at supporting them in their education pursuit.
It will be recalled that the senator, few months ago, launched the initiative under the Senator Lamido Education Trust Fund, in which 1,000 students benefitted with N50,000 each, which was also distributed to them.
Speaking while handing over the cash to the beneficiaries at Sky Land Park, Sokoto, the senator called on the affected students to make proper use of the money.
Represented by the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Illela Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Muhammad Alaaro, he said the beneficiaries were drawn from the eight local government areas in the zone.
Muhammad, who is also the chairman of all local government chairmen of the the party in the state, said the senator, apart from his intervention in the education sector, said that the senator also contributed to the prevention of crimes in the zone.
