EKITI State government has sealed five health facilities for allegedly operating below standard and engaging unqualified workers.
The affected facilities are Odunayo Medical Centre, Aye Ekiti; City Medical Laboratory, Ado Ekiti; Masterpiece Diagnostic Care, Ado Ekiti; Abundant Grace Hospital, Ado Ekiti, and Good Heritage Hospital, Ado Ekiti.
Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani sealed off the facilities when he led his team on impromptu visit to private hospitals and other health facilities.
He regretted the existence of such facilities in the state, despite regular monitoring and persistent warnings.
Represented by the Director of Hospital Services and Training in the ministry, Dr. Olusanya Adetoye, Filani expressed dismay at the way and manner the facilities were operating with unqualified and incompetent staff in filthy environments.
The Commissioner said the government would in addition to closure, not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any auxiliary doctor and trainee-nurse passing off themselves as qualified professionals.
