The relative peace of the Kajola community, Atakumosa west local government area of Osun state was on Tuesday threatened following the rejection by the indigenous members on the presentation of staff of office to the new monarch of the town.

The presentation of staff of office which was performed by the state government, was criticized by the town’s indigenes who argued that there was a pending case in court over who should be the rightful occupier of the vacant seat of the community before the sudden presentation of staff of office to one Omirin Aderibigbe by the government.

The community members who described the development as a slap on their faces, argued that they were astonished to see that somebody was given the right to occupy the Obaship position of the town while courts in the state are on strike presently and the case concerning the locality is still pending there.

Speaking with newsmen, they mentioned the name of one Johnson Akinyemi as the rightful occupier of the stool expressing surprise that another person was now being presented with the staff of office to steer the ship of the town.

A community member who identified himself as Abiodun, described the action as a daylight robbery on them in the community.

However, the present Baale of the settlement, Johnson Akinyemi, who has been presiding over the affairs of the town before the new person was installed, said the present occupier of the seat, has no moral right to do so and called on the state government to right all wrongs concerning the issue.

He remarked, “I am appealing to the state government to do something about it.”
