Some concerned citizens of Burdugau G’ Malumfashi Local Government area of Katsina have lamented poor representation of a member representing Malumfashi and Kafur Federal Constituency, Hon. Aminu Ibrahim as residents in Burdugau community deserted the community following insecurity.
The concerned citizens of Burdugau G’ Malumfashi Local Government area in Katsina state disclosed this in a statement signed by Sanusi Muhammad Burdugau on Sunday in Gusau.
According to them, on the 25th of February, the bandits besieged Burdugau Town under Malumfashi Local Government, kidnapped 11 people mainly married women, killed one person, and carted away valuables belonging to community comprising animals and foodstuff.
“Our community is now deserted, to our dismay, the member representing us keeps mute without even commiserating to the community over the incident.
“We don’t know the importance of our member representing Malumfashi and Kafur federal constituency because he has shown no concern for us.
“Over 5000 people left their residence occasioned by bandits nefarious activities in Burdugau Town but lamented that the state government under the leadership of governor Dikko Umar Radda had not responded to their Clarion calls to bring security personnel to the area with a view to enable them return to their homes and continue with their normal life.
“Despite our Clarion calls to the state government to come to our aid, up to now, nothing has been done by the state government for us to go back to our respective residences to continue with our normal life,” the statement partly read.
The concerned people of Burdugau also urged Governor Radda to personally come to their town and see the situation in reality and not to stay in Katsina without taking any proactive measures on the lingering insecurity affecting the community and other parts of the state.
They further told Katsina State government that, Burdugau Town and its environs is an agrarian area where ninety-nine percent of the community relied on farming as their source of livelihood, expressed that if urgent measures are not taken by the appropriate authority in the state, the issue of farming would not be possible this coming rainy season and hundreds of people will fall into serious hunger and abject poverty.
“We don’t need any capital projects by the state government at all but rather we need to return to our ancestral residences and also protection of our lives and properties by the authorities concerned, that is all we are in need of.”
They also mentioned that if proactive steps have not been taken, the education carrier of their children will suffer serious setback and their future will be miserable in society.
“The future of our children’s educational background has totally affected and collapsed and if government not take urgent measures on security, their future will be useless and miserable in society,” they added.
They commended Senator representing Katsina West, Hon. Muntari Dandutse for his heartfelt concerns to his constituents at the Senates, calling on him to maintain the tempor, stressing that over 150 towns and villages between Kankara and Malumfashi Local Government areas have been sacked by the recalcitrant bandits within the last ten days in the state.
