The ruling house of Fusengbuwa, heir apparent to the Awujale stool, at Ile-Nla compound in Ijebu-Ode has warned Chief AbdulLateef Owoyemi to stop parading himself as the head of the ruling house.
The Fusengbuwa family gave the warning during a press conference organised by members of the ruling house in Ijebu-Ode.
Speaking, the Olori Ebi of the ruling house, Chief Adedokun Ajidagba, through a statement he personally signed shortly after the press briefing, warned Chief Owoyemi to desist from parading himself as the head of the ruling house, else the family will charge him for contempt if he continues.
Ajidagba said the ruling house had proved Chief Owoyemi illegibility to be the head of Fusengbuwa family.
“The Fusengbuwa ruling house at Ile-Nla compound Ijebu-Ode has warned him and, henceforth, he should stop parading himself as the of our ruling house.
“The case instituted in 2014, involving a dispute over the rightful Olori-Ebi position within the Fusengbuwa ruling house,” Ajidagba said.
Ajidagba, who was accompanied by other family elders, presented a copy of the court judgment issued in March 2018, which delineated the eligibility criteria for the Olori-Ebi role. The judgment referenced the lineage of the late Subomi Balogun and outlined the responsibilities associated with the position.
Ajidagba accused Owoyemi of disregarding the order and persisting in asserting leadership over the Fusengbuwa family.
Ajidagba further said that failure to yield to these facts, the ruling house shall take legal action against Owoyemi without hesitation.
Reacting, Owoyemi debunked the family’s allegations, affirming his entitlement to voice his opinions and asked them to substantiate any claim of exploiting the family name for personal gain.
Regarding the court judgment restraining him from presenting himself as the head of the ruling house, Owoyemi responded, “No judgment has instructed me to cease any activity. They are extrapolating from the judgment what is not explicitly stated. I entrust them to God’s judgment. No one can harm me. God has shaped my destiny. I have no intention of pursuing legal action; I entrust my fate to God.”
