The authorities of the Yoruba community council, Sokoto State chapter, have placed an indefinite suspension on Alhaji Abdulfatai Olayiwola Coker, the Sarikin Yorubawa in the state.
This is contained in a letter dated April 19th and signed by both the President General of the council and Secretary of the council, Chief James Olorunfemi and Imam Abdulwahab Lawal and made available to newsmen in the state.
The letter which was addressed to Coker, and copied to the Sultanate council, Sokoto State Government, State Commissioner of Police, and Director of DSS in the state, urged him to stop parading himself as the Oba of Yoruba in the state with immediate effect.
“In line with the provision of the constitution of Yoruba council, Sokoto, Article 9d, the Yoruba community have the power to remove Sarikin Yoruba ( Oba of Yoruba), if found wanting in the discharge of line of duty.
“Having severally noted that in total disregard and contempt to the authority of the Yoruba community council in your official activities and your refusal to amend and foster peaceful resolution between you and the Yoruba community council after several attempts.

“The Yoruba community council, Sokoto State which enthrone and issued you certificate as Sariki Yorubawa hereby suspend you indefinitely and dissolve your council and unanimously pass a vote of no confidence by a majority vote which was ratified at the general meeting of the council “
The letter which was addressed to the embattled Sariki and copied to relevant authorities in the state including the state government, Sultanate council, Commissioner of Police, and Director of DSS in the state, urges Coker to stop parading himself as the Oba of Yoruba in the state henceforth.
