A community leader in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State, Chief Munir Adisa, has lauded the kingship model in Isolo kingdom for having a history that allows rancor-free succession.

Adisa gave the commendation while speaking to newsmen on the recent demise of the Osolo of Isolo kingdom, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, pointing out that the succession model had been a major catalyst for peace among stakeholders in Isolo chieftaincy affairs.

Adisa, who noted that the next ruling house to produce a candidate for the throne is the Alagbeji royal family, expressed the hope that picking the next monarch will be seamless as it has always been through the ages.

“Historically speaking, the next ruling house to produce a candidate for the throne is the Alagbeji royal family.

“The Alagbeji royal family has four branches namely Akinlagun branch which produced the late Oba Disu Faronbi (1975 –1984);  Arowoye Ejoga branch which produced the Baale Alagbeji, Samuel Arowoye (1995 -2010);  Apena branch which produced Baale of Alagbeji, Chief Jelili Apena (2022 till date); Alabe branch is the only left to produce the candidate for the available vacant Osolo stool,” Adisa said.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that there are three ruling houses in Isolo kingdom, comprising Adeola Olushi Olugbesa royal family, Alagbeji royal family and Okota royal family.

Adeola Olushi Olugbesa royal family, according to the source had produced the late Oba Sumonu Agedegudu whose demise caused the throne to revert to the Alagbeji royal family.

The Alagbeji royal family thereafter produced the late Oba Disu Faronbi whose demise caused the throne to revert to the Okota royal family.

The Okota royal family thence produced the late Oba Rafiu Ayinde Goloba.

Nigerian Tribune also learnt that after the demise of Oba Rafiu Ayinde Goloba, the throne reverted to the Adeola Olushi Olugbesa royal family who again produced the late Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka. It is now unarguably the turn of the Alabe branch of Alagbeji royal family.
