Wife of the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun has harped on the empowerment of women nationwide including the Police Officers Wives Association through huge investment in the Agricultural sector.

Egbetokun made this known when she led the delegation of POWA to pay homage to the Olubadan designate, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin at his Alalubosa residence, Ibadan on Tuesday.

The wife of the number one police officer in the Country who thanked the monarch for the welcome reception said the purpose of the visit is to intimate the people of Ibadan through the Olubadan designate of the various developmental programmes that POWA has embarked upon which is centred around women empowerment.

She said, the purpose of the visit is to intimate the Kabiyesi of the plan of the management of POWA to invest massively in the Agricultural sector in order to make the women more responsible in the society.

“We are committed to the empowerment of women and wives of the officers of the Nigerian Police Force.

“We are eager to collaborate with the states government at ensuring the success of our various developmental programmes.

“We are striving to build a future in agriculture and food security”

“We are hoping that the visit will bring out the in built talents that will assist in transforming the lives of our women across the length and breadth of the Country.

In his response, the Olubadan designate, Oba Olakulehin thanked the visiting wife of the Inspector General of Police and members of her entourage for the visit.

Oba Olakulehin who spoke through the Osi Balogun, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe assured POWA of the support of the people of Ibadanland.

In a related development, the wife of the IGP during a working visit to headquarters of Oyo Police Command, Eleyele, Ibadan, warned the women against being idle.

According to him, the era of the activities of the women being restricted to the kitchen is gone

“Our women should move out of the barracks. They should look for sustainable businesses. We should align with the vision of the first lady of the Federation, Senator Olukemi Tinubu”.
